TELOS is an integrated discipleship training school. It has been designed to holistically equip Christians in their head, heart and hands so that they can more adequately fulfill God’s purpose for them, which is to be formed into the image of Jesus. This is our telos: to be with Jesus so that we can become like Jesus. Our aim in TELOS then, is to better know Jesus, so that we can become more like Jesus and do what Jesus does.

Aspects of the School

COMMENCEMENT

To launch the school, all the students will attend a 3-day retreat (2 nights), which will help lay the foundation for the school. The goal of this time is to help each student discover how the Gospel has the power to personally transform them, while getting to know and encourage one another in that process.

COURSE

Throughout the 7-month (2-semester) school we will go through a discipleship curriculum that is designed to establish biblical foundations in disciples of Jesus. The holistic material will cover theological training (head), spiritual formation (heart), and ministry equipping (hands), which will all be laid out in your syllabus.

CLASS

Once a week we will meet for class, which will be much more like a worship experience than a lecture hall. We will eat dinner together, worship the Lord in song, receive Spirit-filled teaching from the Bible, and pray together and for one another.

COHORT

Each student will be part of a same-gender triad (3 people) with the purpose of focusing on each one’s spiritual formation. They will meet together every week during the first hour of class on Wednesday night over a meal together. The goal of these groups is to discover God in His word and nurture gospel-truths in their hearts so that they can better know Jesus and be formed into His likeness from the inside out. We expect life-long friendships around Jesus to be formed through these groups.

CHURCH

Amidst the school year, each student is expected to be an active participant in their home church through regular serving and fellowship. This means that they become a contributing part of a home group (missional community) as well as find an area of need in their church and use their gifts to serve regularly.

CHARGE

Each student will finish the school with a practical way of serving the community in mind. The school then, will act as a ministry practicum that will help train each disciple to more faithfully serve others in their given sphere of influence.

CELEBRATION

To finish the school, all the students will be invited to an informal graduation celebration. The goal of this time is to congratulate each student that finished the school.
